Breathing Life into Tomorrow

A non-communicable disease (NCD) center is a specialized facility focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of chronic health conditions that are typically not caused by infectious agents.

NCD centers play a crucial role in addressing the growing burden of chronic diseases worldwide by offering holistic care approaches that encompass medical, behavioral, and social aspects of health management.

We will begin operations at the NCD Screening center as soon as we receive the machinery.

  • We will be charging 50% less than the usual local rates at the NCD screening center. The collected funds will be used for maintenance and distributed to underprivileged families
  • Screening and Diagnosis: Regular health screenings to detect NCDs early, such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer
  • Treatment and Management: Comprehensive care plans tailored to individual patients, including medication management, lifestyle counseling, and rehabilitation services
  • Education and Prevention: Public health campaigns, workshops, and individual counseling to promote healthy lifestyles, prevent NCDs, and manage risk factors

IMPORTANCE OF HAVING NCD SCREENING CENTER

Establishing a Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) testing center is crucial for a number of reasons, including:

1.Early detection: Regular tests allow for early discovery, prompt action, and better treatment results. People have access to the essential examinations and testing to detect suspected NCDs at an early stage thanks to a dedicated screening centre.

2.The option to evaluate a person’s risk factors and general health state is offered through NCD screening centers. Healthcare providers can identify patients who are more likely to develop NCDs by assessing variables like cholesterol levels, blood pressure, height and weight (BMI), and familial risk factors.

3.Health Information and Raising Awareness: NCD screening facilities are essential for encouraging health education and bringing various NCDs to the public’s attention. To help people comprehend the dangers of NCDs and the value of living a healthy lifestyle, they can offer classes, workshops, and counselling sessions.

PRAANA

"Fueling hope, building health, join praana’s mission today…

Praana was a campaign to raise funds for building the NCD screening center.

Praana” (Prana, Prāṇā, Prāṇa) is a fundraising project operating under Lions District 306C1 Sri Lanka, with the aim of donating $1 to plant 100,000 “Mee Trees” and save 40,800 lives annually. The tropical tree Madhuca Longifolia, also referred to as the Mahua tree, is an indigenous species to the Indian subcontinent, belonging to the Sapotaceae family. The tree holds significant cultural importance in various parts of India due to its multiple purposes and benefits.

Our campaign encouraged people to spend $1 each for a Mee plant. We planted Mee plants, brought in dollars to the country, and raised funds to build the NCD center. With the assistance of the Sri Lanka Army, we planted 65,000 Mee plants. The funds were primarily facilitated by the Lions in the 306C1 district and other Sri Lankans.
